Welcome! I am Can, an experienced game developer currently working at Ubisoft Berlin as a Generalist Programmer. I am an expert on building user interfaces for games.
Working on UI means working on every aspect of a game, and I take pride in building robust structures that are adaptable, extendable and performant.
What I Do
I have extensive experience developing user interfaces for games, ranging from small advergames to an MMO.
I have an M.A. on Game Development & Research from Cologne Game Lab and I enjoy using and expanding my academic knowledge in my work. This helps me support my co-workers to make informed decisions on game design and UX problems.
I'm skilled in making tools and similar game extensions using WinForms, WPF or just plain system shell.
I pride myself with building robust codebases that are intuitive and self documenting. I have worked on multiple GaaS titles that received regular updates over their long lifetimes.

Worked on Albion Online, a sandbox MMORPG from Sandbox Interactive, set in the medieval fantasy world of Albion. I worked with the UI team to deliver new and improved user experiences. My responsibilities included developing and improving responsive interfaces and engineering the underlying architecture.
Mar 2017 – Aug 2017Cultic Games
Worked on Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones "A Lovecraftian Roleplaying Video Game of Horror, Loss and Madness". Worked with the game director and the UI designer to deliver numerous user interfaces. Supported the programming team in developing gameplay systems and maintaining a healthy codebase.

Worked as a lecturer for 2 semesters in the Fine Arts faculty, teaching game development and computer graphics.
Nov 2012 – Jul 2015Madbyte Games
I was part of the core development team of Zula, a free to play online multiplayer FPS game. I joined the team at FPP phase and left after releasing the version 1.0. I've programmed all user interfaces, some tools, an occlusion culling solution and some gameplay elements. I was also responsible for integrating third-party libraries such as the audio engine WWise and a proprietary anti-cheat solution.
Jun 2011 – Nov 2012Proje Calide
Worked as the sole game programmer for this marketing agency, developing numerous advergames and interactive projects for customers such as Cartoon Network and Unilever.
